Every e-challan in Pakistan can be downloaded as a proper slip, and every payment you make against it produces a receipt. Keeping both documents is more important than most drivers realise: the printed challan is your proof of what you were fined for, and the paid receipt is your proof that the fine is cleared if the system ever shows it as pending again.
In this guide you will learn how to download and print your e-challan slip from the official portal, what the PSID printed on it actually is, how to pay using that PSID, and how to get and print your payment receipt afterwards.
What Is a PSID?
PSID stands for Payment Slip ID. It is a unique number — usually 17 digits — generated for a specific payable document, such as an e-challan, a token tax voucher, or another government fee. Think of it as the challan’s payment address: when you pay through a bank app, ATM, Easypaisa, JazzCash, or a bank branch, you do not describe what you are paying — you simply enter the PSID, and the system automatically finds the exact challan, the vehicle, and the amount due.
Your PSID is printed on the e-challan slip itself. Each challan has its own PSID, so if you have three pending challans, you will have three different PSIDs and must pay each one separately. Never pay a challan using an old PSID from a previous slip — always use the PSID printed on the challan you intend to clear.
Step-by-Step: Download and Print Your E-Challan Slip (Punjab / PSCA)
Step 1: Open the official PSCA e-challan portal
Go to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority e-challan website (echallan.psca.gop.pk). If you are unsure how to reach the right portal for your city, our page on checking e-challan in Lahore online walks you through it.
Step 2: Enter your vehicle details
Enter your vehicle registration number and, where asked, your CNIC or chassis number. Submit the search to view all challans issued against your vehicle.
Step 3: Open the challan you want
Click on the pending challan to see its full detail: violation type, date and time, location, the camera image (for camera challans), the fine amount, the due date, and the PSID.
Step 4: Download or print the slip
Use the print or download option on the challan page. Your browser will either save a PDF of the slip or open the print window, from where you can also choose “Save as PDF”. Save the file with a clear name, such as your vehicle number plus the challan date.
Step 5: Print the slip
Open the saved PDF and print it. A standard black-and-white print is perfectly fine — banks and offices only need the PSID and challan details to be readable. If you are printing directly from the browser, check the preview so the PSID digits are not cut off at the page edge.
How to Pay Using the PSID
With the slip in hand, you can pay through any of these channels:
- Mobile banking apps: Open bill payments, choose the government/e-Pay Punjab option where available, enter the PSID, confirm the amount shown, and pay.
- ATMs: Most major bank ATMs offer bill payment with a PSID option under government payments.
- Easypaisa and JazzCash: Both wallets support government challan payments — search for the challan or e-Pay option and enter the PSID.
- Bank branches and e-Khidmat centers: Take the printed slip; the staff will process the payment against the PSID and stamp or print your receipt.

How to Get and Print Your Paid Receipt
Your receipt is the proof of payment, and you can get it in three ways. If you paid through a banking app or wallet, open the transaction in your history and download or screenshot the confirmation screen — it shows the PSID, amount, and date. If you paid at a branch or center, keep the stamped slip or printed receipt they hand you. Finally, revisit the e-challan portal after payment: once the system updates, the challan status changes to “Paid”, and this status page itself serves as confirmation. Payment status can take some time to reflect, so if it still shows pending immediately after paying, check again later the same day before worrying.
Why keep the receipt? Because occasionally a payment is made but the record is not updated correctly. If your token tax or vehicle transfer is ever blocked by a challan you already paid, the receipt — with its PSID, date, and transaction reference — is what gets the record corrected quickly at the excise office or through the PSCA helpline. Our guide on paying traffic e-challan online in Pakistan also explains what to do when a paid challan still shows as pending.
Lost Your Receipt? Here Is What to Do
A lost receipt is recoverable. Download the challan slip again from the portal and note the PSID. If you paid through an app or wallet, the transaction remains in your history — download a fresh copy from there. If you paid at a bank, your statement showing the PSID payment works as proof, and the bank can usually reprint the transaction advice. Keep digital copies in your phone or email from now on; a single folder for vehicle documents saves a lot of trouble at tax and transfer time.
Printing Tips and Common Problems
A few small problems come up again and again. If the printout is faded and the PSID cannot be read, save the slip as a PDF first and print it from the file instead of the browser screen — the digits come out much sharper. If the portal shows no separate download button, use your browser’s Print function and select “Save as PDF” as the destination; the result is exactly the same document. If the challan page will not open at all, an e-Khidmat Markaz or a PSCA facilitation centre can print the slip for you from the same record. And if the PSID on your printed slip is ever rejected at a bank or ATM, do not keep retrying — re-download a fresh slip from the portal, because a corrected or regenerated challan carries a new, valid PSID.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where exactly is the PSID written on the challan?
The PSID is printed prominently on the e-challan slip, usually near the top with the challan number and vehicle details. It is also shown on the challan detail page on the portal before you print.
Can I print the challan slip without paying it?
Yes. Downloading and printing the slip is free and does not pay the challan. Payment happens only when you pay against the PSID through a bank, app, wallet, or branch.
I paid but the portal still shows my challan as pending. What should I do?
Wait a few hours and check again, as status updates are not always instant. If it remains pending after a day, contact the PSCA helpline or visit the excise office with your payment receipt and PSID so the record can be corrected.
Can someone else pay my challan using my PSID?
Yes. Anyone with the PSID can pay that challan through their own bank app or wallet. This is commonly done when a family member handles the vehicle’s payments. Keep the receipt afterwards regardless of who paid.
Is a screenshot of the payment confirmation enough as a receipt?
A screenshot showing the PSID, amount, date, and transaction reference is usually accepted for record correction, but downloading the app’s official transaction receipt or keeping the stamped branch slip is even stronger proof. Save both if you can.
Note: Portal screens and payment options can change. If a step looks different on the official website, follow the on-screen instructions there and always keep your PSID safe.
